Patience Boni is a seasoned public health professional with more than 25 years of experience in Ghana’s health sector. She began her career as a clinical nurse and midwife and later transitioned into public health and nursing management roles, focusing on sexual and reproductive health, maternal and child health, family planning, and safe abortion services.
At AYA Collective, Patience serves as Program Associate II, where she supports the implementation of the Comprehensive Abortion Care institutionalization program in Ghana. Her work includes providing technical assistance to the Ghana Health Service, contributing to strategic planning and program design, supporting fundraising efforts, and coordinating with international partners, donors, and local institutions. She is closely involved in strengthening reproductive health and family planning programming, supporting policy development, evaluating projects, and helping ensure the delivery of quality, safe abortion services.
Before joining AYA Collective, Patience was Senior Programs Officer at Willows International Ghana and a key member of the Ghana Reducing Maternal Mortality and Morbidity (R3M) program, where she led community-based behavior change initiatives and advocacy efforts to expand access to reproductive health services. She has also worked with Ipas as a Health Systems Associate, supporting the establishment and supervision of safe abortion services across multiple facilities. Earlier in her career within the Ghana Health Service, she served as Deputy Director of Nursing Services and as a nurse-midwife, supervising district reproductive health programs and contributing to TB/HIV and communicable disease surveillance initiatives.
Patience holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Psychology and a Master of Public Health from the University of Ghana, Legon. She brings deep technical knowledge, practical experience, and a strong commitment to improving women’s health outcomes across Ghana.
