Dr. Koma Steem Jehu-Appiah is a seasoned public health professional with over 30 years of experience across clinical care, policy, research, and program leadership in multiple countries. He has served at Ghana’s premier teaching hospital and previously worked as Health Policy Advisor to the Royal Netherlands Embassy before leading an international NGO as Country Director for 14 years.

A co-founder and Vice President of AYA Collective, Dr. Jehu-Appiah brings deep expertise in advocacy, sexual and reproductive health, and health systems strengthening. He has also spent more than a decade as a radio host on youth-focused sexual and reproductive health programs, helping to expand public understanding and engagement on key issues.

He has received research training at the Research Triangle in Raleigh, North Carolina, and currently serves as an Associate Professor at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, where he is a key module organizer in Sexual and Reproductive Health. In addition, he contributes to the development of occupational standards in trichology (the study of the skin and scalp).

Known for his collaborative leadership and ability to work effectively across diverse teams and high-pressure environments, Dr. Jehu-Appiah brings a broad and practical perspective to AYA Collective’s work, strengthening the organization’s impact across advocacy, research, and program implementation.
